Wilmington Criminal Defense Attorney
Experience Makes a Difference
So many lawyers forget how utterly humiliating it is to be arrested. And once arrested, I am reminded every single day how people will leave you stranded. People in trouble get deserted by friends and sometimes even family. Those who were close to us tend to look the other way. I believe criminal defense lawyers are well reminded to appreciate this ugly fact. They should never forget it, but so many often do!
Winning - like excellence - is a process that does not occur randomly.
The primary focus of my practice over the past 20 years has been on providing sound legal advice and aggressive criminal defense representation to men, women and juvenile clients throughout Delaware. Earlier in my career, I also tried and won major medical malpractice litigation, corporate merger litigation and even federal court race discrimination litigation. However, due to a deep feeling on my part that the government has way too much influence in our personal lives, I moved my law practice to major criminal defense and traffic law.
In my work as a criminal defense attorney, I have earned a reputation as a no-nonsense advocate, meticulously organized and detail-oriented. I have a personal commitment to providing individualized attention and real solutions for my clients. I build every case from the ground up and use my proven courtroom skills to build a valuable rapport with jurors and judges alike.
Aggressive Criminal Defense Representation
I handle a full range of criminal defense cases, including felonies and misdemeanors such as:
- Drug charges ranging from simple drug possession to felony drug trafficking
- Assault and other violent crimes like manslaughter and domestic violence
- Juvenile crimes of all kinds
- Sex Crimes - Rape
- DUI (driving under the influence, also known as drunk driving or DWI)
- Underage DUI
- Speeding and traffic tickets
In 2002, I was voted one of the top two lawyers in the state by the News Journal. Recently, I was appointed by the Superior Court to represent a DUI defendant in the first test case regarding the validity of the horizontal gaze nystagmus (HGN) — a type of field sobriety test — in Delaware history.
Oftentimes justice is best served by working with the prosecutors out-of-court, to resolve the case without the stress and risks of going to trial. But I know that my clients' best interests are served by preparing every case for trial. This aggressive approach and winning attitude enables me to negotiate from a position of strength.
In a criminal case, as in life, nothing is certain. But when you call my office in Wilmington at 302-622-9500 for a free initial consultation, you will know that you are working with a lawyer who has the determined attitude that can mean the difference between winning and losing, between success and failure.
