Delaware SCRAM Program
In Delaware, the laws regarding Driving Under the Influence is a serious offense. A DUI conviction can sometimes hinder many aspects of one's life such as driving privileges, employability and others. Fortunately, there are several several programs that help the accused to keep their lives on track once the DUI arrest is made. One of those programs is the Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring (SCRAM) program.
The SCRAM program in Delaware allows the accused offender to wear an ankle bracelet that monitors ones Blood Alcohol Content (BAC), thereby sometimes allowing one to avoid jail time. There is a cost that must be paid by the accused for the renting of the bracelet. How long one wears the bracelet is dependent on the circumstances surrounding the DUI case. SCRAM & DUI's in Delaware
Typically, the SCRAM bracelet is used most commonly with multiple DUI offender's. However, first time offenders can use the SCRAM program if there are certain circumstances such as excessively high Blood Alcohol Content percentages. Only a court can mandate that someone wear a SCRAM bracelet. They do this to deter someone from drinking, as well as drinking and driving, for a specified time period. In addition, a judge or court may also order it so one's alcohol consumption, and their alcohol dependency, can be assessed in an attempt to determine an appropriate course of treatment.
